12/07/19 Group 3

On the fourth day of our tour, we had two lessons, one meeting and the multicultural exhibition.

Our first lesson was “Design Thinking”, Mr William Scott was very humorous and funny. He taught us many useful knowledge of finding solutions to a problem in a lively way. We have also learnt that we can make our island of the Global Solution Project more special and achieve sustainability by adding unique historical and cultural backgrounds to it.

Next, we had our “Quality Decision Making” class. We studied several cases on decision making. We learnt that when we are choosing between alternatives, we should consider the uncertainties, it will also be better if we use graphics to understand the decisions we need to make and the range of outcomes so that the conclusion can be more comprehensive and impartial.

After that, we had our second Global Solution Project meeting in the Synergy House. Today, we discussed about the history and name of our Island. Everyone suggested different interesting ideas and, with the help of our teacher assistance, we came up with pretty good ideas. We enjoyed the process of discussion and how the way we come up with solutions for conflicts quickly especially when we faced cultural differences.

Last but not least, the highlight of the summer program – the Multicultural Exhibition! Participants from different countries set up booths, such as booths that showcased the unique features of their culture. They also performed and presented in their traditional costumes. We were all engaged in the performances and cheered for performers coming from different countries. We experienced the diversity and knew more about features of different cultures.  We all enjoyed the night very much! We learnt more about different culture and the importance of cultural diversity as well as respecting others’ cultures.
We were working on our booths during the MCE.
