16/7/2019 Group 4

The first lesson we had today was "International business : how to grow, manage, survive". Since none of our group mates study business, it was indeed a good introduction to learn the subject. We learnt about multinational enterprises and how international trades work, illustrated by examples such as the production and sale of iPhones. Through studying a real-life scenario, we learnt how to solve problems of a business by formulating strategies. The lesson was very meaningful and eye-opening.

The next lesson was the mock trial that we have prepared for for the last few days. Through the preparation, we have learnt how to cooperate together and the importance of teamwork. During the trial, the instructor gave us constructive insights during the trial, such as how to object to the other side's arguments, how to respond to difficult questions. The instructor also stressed on the relationship between the witness and the attorneys, and how we should prepare questions based on the relationship. Therefore, questions should be asked to support our side. Most of us have never participated in mock trials before, so it was an inspiring and memorable experience for us.

Next, we attended a talk about admission to Stanford University and college life. It was really effective in preparing us for applying for universities in the US. College students shared with us their experiences and advice, giving us guidelines on how to write application letters and personal statements, which helped us prepare for applying universities and stepping into the whole new territory of college life in the future.

After dinner, we had a fire pit night near the 'lake'. The counsellors introduced us to the traditional campfire snack - s'mores, which includes roasted marshmallows and chocolates sandwiched between two graham crackers. This was a precious chance to learn about American culture practically. We had a fun time taking photos in the sunset and singing with other group members by the fire pit. Through singing, we developed a strong bonding with people from different cultural backgrounds. We had an enjoyable yet unforgettable night!
