Today we visited the SLAC laboratory
located near Stanford University and had a lesson on leadership. It was
exciting, fruitful and tiring at the same time.
In the morning, after we had our
breakfast, as group A, we went to the lab immediately. It was a fun experience,
where we learnt about the particle accelerator and the newly developed x-ray
laser and how do they help the advancement of technology and science. Although
the topics were very advanced and we could not understand much, but we still
try our best at absorbing information. It was a great experience overall as we
had the chance to see and experience things like the accelerator and other advanced
equipment which we cannot see normally.
After lunch, we went to take a
class on leadership. Our instructor, Chloe Good was very passionate and energetic.
Although we were a bit nervous and awkward, we gradually warmed up to her by
her passion and welcoming words. In the class, we learnt about how to overcome
our fears by using methods like the stories vs reality, imaging a happy place,
and how to be more energetic by doing the ‘power-pose’. We learnt how to be effective
leaders by being not afraid, we even danced at the end of the lesson. This is
surely a productive lesson.
